The Arizona Board of Regents congratulates Aydin‑Kane Vo on his nomination by Gov. Katie Hobbs to serve as a student regent.

“On behalf of the board, we welcome Governor Hobbs’ selection of Aydin‑Kane Vo, a highly accomplished Arizona State University student with a record of leadership and service, to be Arizona’s newest student regent,” said 91�鶹��Ʒ Chair Doug Goodyear. “Aydin’s experience in student governance and background in engineering research will bring a well‑grounded perspective to the board’s work.”

Vo is pursuing a Master of Science and Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering at ASU, from which he earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and graduated summa cum laude. As an undergraduate student, he served as Senator and Chairman of Government Operations for ASU’s Student Government. As a Graduate Research and Training Fellow at ASU’s Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering, Vo helps teach engineering students, providing mentorship and support with their coursework. His leadership and dedication have been recognized with several awards, including ASU’s Moeur Award for academic excellence and Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award.

In addition to his leadership and teaching experience, Vo is engaged in research at ASU focused on engineering and health care applications. He has worked on projects supported by federal agencies, industry partners and health care organizations, centered on biomechanics, human performance and medical device design. Vo has also held engineering internships in the medical device and health care sectors, where he contributed to product development, testing, regulatory documentation, and quality and safety reviews. His work has contributed to multiple academic research publications being submitted to journals in biomechanics, sports medicine, ergonomics and orthopedics.

“I am grateful to Governor Hobbs for this nomination and for the opportunity to serve Arizona’s university students,” Vo said. “I look forward to working with the board to ensure student perspectives remain central to decisions that shape higher education in our state.”

Upon confirmation by the Arizona Senate, Vo will serve a two-year term as a student regent, with the first year served as a non-voting member. The board consists of 12 members, 11 voting and one non-voting, including the governor and superintendent of public instruction as ex-officio members. While ex-officio and student regents serve limited terms, other regents hold eight-year appointments.

Student Regent Jadyn Fisher will conclude her term on June 30, and entering the second year of his term, Regent Felipe Garcia will serve as the voting student regent on the board.
